Pools Youth Team earned a creditable 1-1 draw at Hull City this afternoon though Micky Barron felt his side may even have done enough to win the game.

The Tigers were third in the Youth Alliance League table before kick-off but Pools left Humberside with a well-deserved point for their efforts.

"It was a good game really and I thought we played well," Barron told us.

"Hull tried to change their system and be more direct but I felt we were the better side, certainly in the second half when we created more of the chances.

"We defended very solidly when called upon too so overall I'm pleased with the lads for earning a very good point," he added.

Both goals arrived inside the first eight minutes, with City getting their noses in front with just five minutes on the clock when the striker got between defence and goalkeeper to fire home.

However, Pools were back on level terms within three minutes when a deflected cross looped to the far post where Callum Martin was on hand to volley home from five yards.

As the game wore on it was Barron's side who looked the more likely victors but despite coming close to scoring an own goal on one occasion the home side held on for a point.
