Chris Turner refused to be disappointed despite seeing his side knocked out of the FA Cup by West Ham United in a front of a large crowd at Victoria Park.

The Director of Sport instead chose to focus on the positive nature of his team's performance and said he was proud of the way they handled the big occasion.

"Nobody likes to lose a game but I was delighted with the way we took the game to West Ham," Turner commented afterwards.

"We pushed them back which caused them problems and I think all the players can take a lot of credit out of the way they performed.

The Hammers scored both of their goals in a 2-0 win inside three minutes on the stroke of half time - the second coming from a debatable penalty where Michael Nelson's handball looked to have occurred a yard outside of the box.

"I've got no complaints about the handball because it definitely hit his hand but I'd like to see more responsibility taken from the Assistant Referee because he should be looking across at that.

"Incidents like that obviously do change games and it gave West Ham a greater insurances policy and gave us a real mountain to climb.

"Overall I was pleased with the effort though - if we're going to lose, then I don't mind losing when we play like that."
