David Foley's hat-trick inspired Pools Reserves to a 5-1 win at York City with recent signing Liam Henderson also getting among the goals.

Ian Butterworth's men were full value for their comfortable victory against a youthful City outfit but the work ethic of the team pleased Pools' Reserve Team boss.

"The lads all worked hard and there were some very good performances," he commented.

"David Foley took his goals well and had a couple of other chances so he was always in the thick of the action.

"It was pleasing to see Liam get his first goal for the Club too because he worked ever so hard up there and cause them a lot of problems."

Pools went in front through Henderson early in the first half when he fired home, before Foley got his first of the game with a header to double the lead.

The hosts pulled one back soon after but a header from Matty Tymon on the stroke of half time put Pools back in pole position.

Foley scored again from a pinpoint Jonny Rowell cross after the break before completing his hat-trick with a neat finish from the edge of the box to round off the scoring.
