A brilliant £5,000 has been raised for the British Legion's Help For Heroes Fund after a charity auction and raffle held by Hartlepool United.

The entire match squad wore unique, one-off shirts during the FA Cup game at Brighton on Saturday 8th November, all embroidered with a special poppy emblem.

The majority of these match-worn shirts were then placed on auction site ebay the following Monday, with the auctions coming to an end at 7pm last night.

And the Club are delighted to confirm that a staggering £3,725 was raised via bids from fans after a brilliant response to the appeal.

As well as that, we also raffled Gary Liddle's shirt from the game during Saturday's match against MK Dons which raised an additional £1,200.

All winners of the shirts will be at Victoria Park as guests of the Club on Tuesday evening where they will be presented with their items personally by the players who wore them.

The Club would like to thank everyone who gave so generously to the appeal and we look forward to handing over the £5,000 to the British Legion in the coming weeks.
