Pools Youth Team slumped to a 3-0 defeat at York City as their three-game winning run came to a disappointing end.

It was a performance not in keeping with the rest of the season so far, as Pools were made to pay for some sloppy passing and defensive errors.

"I'll give the players credit because they kept on going even when we were up against it," Micky Barron explained.

"Overall though, too many players had an off-day and we didn't really pass the ball about or create the chances like I know we can.

"There was lots of possession but we didn't do a great deal with it and didn't really manage to break York down."

City went in 1-0 up at half time and despite upping the tempo after the break some more generous defending allowed the hosts to extend their lead.

"We have to try and put this game behind us," Barron added.

"The lads have been excellent for the most part of the season so far and I'm sure we'll bounce back quickly from this."
