Barron's Boys Make It Three In A Row
Pools Youth Team proved it's not just the First Team who have the ability to stage a comeback as they came from behind against Grimsby to make it three wins in a row.
Micky Barron's boys did not really get going in the first half and their visitors took the initiative in the game to take the lead after a defensive slip-up.
There were chances for an equaliser before the break when Tom Marron's header was brilliantly saved, while Billy Blackford couldn't quite finish after a superb run in to the box.
Pools improved after the interval and were quickly on the front foot though the half chances that were created led to shots off target.
However, a double substitution helped provide the inspiration for a fightback and when Lee Mason slotted a perfect pass through to Blackford who finished well to square the game up.
And when Blackford returned the favour for Mason with five minutes left the striker finished neatly to hand Pools all three points.
"We didn't play anywhere near as well as we can - the passing wasn't as accurate and we lacked that bit of quality," Barron explained.
"It was great to see them get back in to the game and they defended well near the end when Grimsby were pressing for an equaliser," he added.
