Danny Wilson has challenged his players to put together a run of form that can lift them in to a play-off position in League One in the coming weeks.

The Pools boss says that the table is shaping up in a similar fashion to last season and thinks that his side are handily placed to make a move on the higher positions.

"Anybody who puts a little run together is going to find themselves in a very healthy position," he told Pools World.

"At this moment we're in that position to do that and if we win two games we could find ourselves up into the top six so that has to be our incentive.

"We have to address the problem with the goals going in because that's a big part of our game we need to shore up."

Wilson has done his homework on Northampton Town ahead of tonight's game at the Sixfields Stadium and expects another tough test for his side.

The Cobblers sit a point and three places below Pools in the table but are unbeaten on home turf in the league so far this season.

"I watched Northampton last week away from home at Crewe and they played very well," he revealed.

"There's a different psychology when you're at home so they may have a different outlook but I've seen enough to know it's going to be very difficult."
