Posh Trip Is Test Of Character - Wilson

Posted on: Fri 29 Aug 2008

Danny Wilson has called on his players to carry their performance against West Brom back in to the league as they travel to Peterborough United this weekend.

The Pools boss was delighted with his players' Carling Cup triumph over the Baggies on Tuesday evening but says that the same standards must be met at London Road.

"This is a good test of character for us because we want to repeat what we've just done in midweek," Wilson told Pools World.

"Performance-wise we've started the season really well and I've been very pleased and if we can put in to the league games the authority and discipline we showed against West Brom we'll do fine.

"There are not many teams that will break us down when we're like that but it has to be total again - we have to do the same at Peterborough."

Darren Ferguson's Peterborough gained automatic promotion from League Two last season and their financial clout has made them many people's favourites for a celebration this term too.

And while Wilson is wary of what the Posh have to offer, he insists his players will be determined to build a good run of their own and get moving up the League One table.

"They've got some very good players," he admitted.

"They have people in their squad that Premier League clubs would like to have on board so that in itself must be an inspiration for us.

"Peterborough have spent money and they have a momentum following promotion so at home they'll be expecting to win but we will make it tough for them."
