Things Are Looking Up Says Clark
Unlucky defender Ben Clark says his recovery from an ankle injury is going as well as can be expected.
The 25-year-old sprained his ankle in the week leading up to the opening day of the season and is set to be sidelined for at least another fortnight though he insists that things are looking up.
"To be fair it's going quite well for me at the moment," Clark commented.
"I'm trying to get in to the gym as much as possible but I also have to be careful because I don't want to rush things at this stage.
"I have to try and step things up gradually so I've been having some competitions in there with the Physio James Haycock - of course, I always win them!"
Clark admits that he will face a fight to regain a place in the starting eleven when he does recover full fitness due to the form of central defenders Michael Nelson and Ben Clark.
"To be fair, I've seen both the home games so far this season and the lads at the back have been fantastic.
"That's good for me because I know I will have to be playing at my best to get back in the side when I'm back.
"Hopefully it's good for them because when I'm back that will add competition for places and hopefully help them keep to the high standards they've set."
And after seeing both Nelson and Collins come close to opening their goalscoring accounts for the season Clark has an extra incentive to find his way back as soon as possible.
"The three of us always want to score more goals than the other - and Sam and Nelse are both very good in the air.
"I had a bit of a go at Sam last week as he missed a good chance in the Scunthorpe game actually, it's all good banter.
"In fact, Nelse came in the other day and was telling me about a screamer he'd scored in training - he's always straight in to tell me when he's scored a good one!"
