Lads Have Given Their All Says Boss

Posted on: Sun 27 Jul 2008

Danny Wilson revealed that he has been proud of the way his players performed in the Centenary Tournament, the Wilton Cup.

Pools finished in third place after defeating Huddersfield Town 1-0 in the noon kick-off and the boss was delighted with their exploits.

"It's been excellent - I couldn't have asked for anything more," Wilson commented.

"The lads have had to cope with some testing conditions because it's not easy to play when it's as hot as it's been this weekend.

"But they gave all we asked for and I am very pleased with the work ethic they have shown throughout the whole pre season so far.

"They've done brilliantly to keep going as they did today - there was a lot of defending to do near the end when Huddersfield were pressing but the lads showed great desire.

"We've certainly put them through their paces - it's hurt them at times but it's what is needed and we hope it will see them thoroughly prepared for that first game against Colchester."
