Competition For Places Pleases Wilson

Posted on: Thu 17 Jul 2008

Danny Wilson was a satisfied man after seeing his side earn a deserved draw at Scottish Premier League side Falkirk.

Pools drew 0-0 in the game at Stirling University and Wilson was pleased with his side's efforts,

"If you look at the chances in the game, I think we had the better of them," he told Pools World after the game.

"We didn't half work hard, we pressed the ball very well and passed it well when we had to and created chances as well."

And the performance is all the more pleasing considering Falkirk's 7th-placed finish last term,

"They're a quality team with quality players and after finishing where they did in the SPL, they were always going to be a big test for us."

One of the main talking points after the game was triallist keeper Derek Soutar's impressive save to deny Graham Barrett from the spot,

"It was an excellent save," Wilson agreed.

"He guessed it right but not only that, he got a very strong guide to it and pushed it away."

And now Wilson is in positive mood looking ahead to the remainder of the pre season campaign,

"We have competition for places now, which is what we have wanted.

"Overall the lads been brilliant and done everything asked of them on this tour."
