A Good Way To Start Things Off - Boss

Posted on: Wed 16 Jul 2008

Danny Wilson declared himself pleased after watching his side win their first pre season fixture of the season at Greenock Morton.

Antony Sweeney scored a last-minute winner after a game largely dominated by Pools and the Pools boss admitted it had been an ideal start to the schedule.

"I thought it was a very good workout against a good side in Morton," he told us.

"They looked quite sharp as we'd expected because they've had a few games on us but in fairness I felt we looked good too.

"We had quite a lot of efforts on goal in the first half and it was disappointing we didn't go in ahead at the break - it wasn't the best goal to give away.

"There were lots of positives tonight though; Alan Power and Ritchie Jones showed what they can do and with games they will both get better.

"We brought in Derek Souter in goal and he'll spend the week with us so we can have a look - he didn't really get tested a lot tonight but he didn't do anything wrong really."
