Wilson Impressed By Cook's Desire

Posted on: Fri 11 Jul 2008

Danny Wilson has tipped new recruit Mark Cook for a bright future in the game after the youngster agreed terms on a move to Victoria Park.

During a short trial period with the Club in pre season the 19-year-old keeper has impressed the Pools boss, with both his attitude and ability.

"At the age that he is we are obviously looking at the longer-term," Wilson explained to hartlepoolunited.co.uk

"We feel that he's had a good upbringing and has a good background in the game which really helps.

"He's not travelling too far from where he's been so that can reduce the settling-in period and he seems to have found his feet very quickly.

I think at this stage in a pre season you can find out about a player's character and attitude because there is a lot of hard work involved.

"You need to be able to keep up a certain work rate and maintain your enthusiasm and Mark has definitely done that.

"We know he has ability; our Goalkeeper Coach George Wood is very pleased with the boy and that in itself is an excellent recommendation."
