Power To Realise Potential With Pools
Danny Wilson was delighted to make his first signing of the summer with the acquisition of Alan Power.
The 20-year-old central midfielder will join up with his Pools team mates for pre season in the coming weeks, keen to make his mark at The Vic.
And Manager Wilson admits he is pleased to be adding a quality young player to his squad,
"He is a young player and we have to remember that - he has not had the experience of league football but we think we have a player with the potential to really push on.
"We have had good reports from Nottingham Forest with regards to his temperament and character.
"Alan has been a bit unfortunate there is that they have a very good group of young players and they couldn't keep them all on - thankfully we managed to nip in there and sign him up early.
"Hopefully now we can help him realise that potential."
After impressing in the Forest Reserve Team for two seasons, Power is now looking to make that step up and Wilson is hopeful he can make that step with Pools,
"I am sure from Alan's point of view that it was getting a little bit frustrating waiting to play and sometimes it can be difficult to break into a settled team and a move is the best thing to push forward again.
"With Forest having been promoted, they are in a position to go out and buy experience so he found himself treading water for a little bit but hopefully the fresh challenge will really help.
"The area he is coming into is one where we don't have a great deal of players and we're hopeful he will come in and do a job for us.
"He's a ball winner who can pass it and he's put in some very good performances in the Reserves.
"He's in a similar position to the one that Gary Liddle was in at Middlesbrough in that he needed a new challenge.
"There is no pressure on Alan, we have expectations and hopefully as the season goes on, he will push on and force his way into the team."
