Danny Wilson has challenged his squad to show their desire this weekend when they bring down the curtain on their season with a trip to Walsall.

The Pools boss insisted that it was immaterial that neither side had anything to play for in the league and expects his players to show a winning mentality at the Bescot Stadium.

"The season has not gone according to plan really so we'll look to finish off on a high note," Wilson told Pools World.

"It doesn't matter what game you're playing you should always want to win and that's the mentality we have to have on Saturday.

"Technically we haven't anything to play for but personal pride should come in to it and I'd like to think that will motivate the players and drive them on to a good result.

"If we can get the win it will give that feel-good factor over the summer because you always remember your last result."
