Danny Wilson today received some brighter news on the injury front, with the confirmation that Sam Collins did not suffer a rib break during the win over Yeovil.

The big defender hobbled off just after the quarter hour mark on Easter Monday after landing heavily following an aerial challenge.

And though fears were at the time that he'd cracked his ribs, subsequent x-rays showed the damage was limited to severe bruising.

"It's obviously not as bad for Sam as we thought but he still took an almighty and painful tumble," Wilson explained.

"We'll have to keep a close eye on him and see how he progresses because at the moment it's his breathing that is the problem."

In a bizarre opening period of the clash against the Glovers, Wilson was forced in to two early changes with the injury to Collins coupled with a hamstring problem for Richard Barker.

And the Pools boss admits that the striker could be missing for this weekend's visit of table-toppers Swansea City to Victoria Park.

"Barker is also a doubt for the weekend with and he's another that will receive treatment this week and we'll see how he gets on.

"This is the kind of thing that keeps happening to us though - every week it seems something crops up to knock us out of kilter.

"I think the time when we won three in a row was one of the few times we were able to keep the team together.

"There things are sent to try us and we'll just keep going, that's all we can do."
