Pools Reserves ran out comfortable 4-1 winners after a derby tussle with local rivals Darlington at Billingham Town tonight.

It was a competitive game but Pools always seemed to have the edge and didn't really allow their visitors to get a foothold on proceedings.

Michael Mackay opened the scoring with a simply superb strike when he cut inside menacingly before unleashing an unstoppable left-foot shot in to the top corner of the net.

It was soon 2-0 as Stephen Turnbull's cross found its way right across goal to the back post where it was side-footed home by Antony Sweeney.

The Quakers were back in it with fifteen minutes left when they made it 2-1 but their hopes didn't last long.

Mackay latched on to a ball over the top and moved just inside the penalty area before finishing expertly to put the game beyond Darlington.

And David Foley wrapped up an enjoyable victory right at the death when he tapped in at the far post following excellent work by Michael Rae.
