Striker Rae In Confident Mood

Posted on: Thu 13 Dec 2007

Michael Rae has been a regular for Pools' Reserves Team this season and has done himself no harm with some impressive displays up front.

The young striker has netted seven goals so far this season and his confident and direct style of play has earned big reviews.

And Rae admits his spirits are high and he's confident of his own ability - as long as he can steer clear of the packed Victoria Park treatment room.

"Things are going well for me now, I've just got to try and stay fit," he told the Official Website.

"I've been getting daft little injuries that are putting me back a week or two so I'm hoping to get over that.

"But it is not going too bad at the moment, I'm scoring goals for the Reserves and Ian Butterworth has told me that I've just got to keep doing what I'm doing and working hard.

"Hopefully if I keep on doing that, the Gaffer will give me my chance and I feel I am ready to take it."

And with fellow striker Michael Mackay earning his call up to the First Team from Danny Wilson this term, Rae is confident he could do well if asked to make the step up,

"Michael Mackay has been banging in a few goals for the First Team after getting his chance and I'd like to think I could do the same.

"It's always a good confidence booster to hear people talking about me and saying good things about my performances in the Reserves and I'd like to think I could do it for the First Team."
