Ian Butterworth admitted that the 6-2 win over Rotherham was hardly a fair reflection of the game - saying it could have been 10-4!

The Reserves easily swept past a young Rotherham side at Billingham Town on Tuesday night and Butterworth was delighted with the attitude shown.

"You have to give Rotherham credit, they showed great character and had some good players in their young team," he told us.

"The lads did well for us though and at the end of the day you can only beat what's in front of you and that's what they did.

"It was a blustery, cold night in Billingham so it was a big test for the players to be up for the game and for the most part it was good.

"A number of the goals we scored were well crafted and well taken - really it could have been about 10-4 in the end!"

Pools actually fell behind in the game but roared back with goals from David Foley (2), Michael Mackay and Jonny Rowell to go in 4-1 up at half time.

In the second half Mackay doubled his tally and young striker Matty Tymon also got on the scoresheet to help Pools to a convincing win.
