Pools are also in action at Consett tomorrow night (Thursday) with Danny Wilson sending a strong squad to Belle Vue Park.

Danny Wilson will be running the rule over his players in the run-up to the new League One season and the trip to Consett will be a good test.

Striker Michael Mackay will make a return to his former stomping ground and will no doubt be keen to show what he's learnt since joining Pools in February.

Consett are preparing well for the new season and gave a good account when they took on a young Sunderland side on Tuesday, going down 3-2 in the end.

That was their first pre-season defeat so far having enjoyed a 5-1 success over Whickham and a 3-2 victory over Prudhoe Town.

"We'll go there and look to put on another good performance," insisted Danny Wilson.

"I'm sure Michael Mackay will enjoy his return - he certainly knows where the goal is there so hopefully he'll show us and them what he can do."

Consett currently have former Pools players Neil Wilkinson and Andy Appleby on their books while Steven Istead also spent time with The Steelmen.

Kick-off at Belle Vue Stadium is 7.30pm.
