Ambitious Pools Go To Town
Pools have literally ploughed money in to Billingham Town's playing surface in an investment that will benefit both clubs next season.
A makeover costing in excess of £120,000 is underway at Billingham's Bedford Terrace ground which will see the pitch mirror that of Victoria Park in both dimension and quality.
Pools have been playing their Reserves football at Billingham for four seasons and the most recent extension to the deal also incorporated this major investment in the playing surface.
"This is a long-term commitment for us and hopefully it can help us bring players on through Reserve football," Pools Chief Executive Russ Green explained.
"We have developed an excellent relationship with Billingham Town and have also worked very closely with Stockton Council to get this project moving.
"Let's hope that it can also improve the quality of players that can be attracted to Billingham Town because they'll be playing on the best pitch in the Northern League," he added.
Victoria Park's pitch was named the best in League Two last season and plans are to ensure that the playing surface at Bedford Terrace is identical in time for the 2006/2007 kick-off.
