Players Have Earned Weekend Off - Cooper

Posted on: Fri 03 Feb 2012

Neale Cooper has given his players the weekend off following the postponement of the npower League One game against Bury.

A frozen pitch put paid to Saturday's fixture at Gigg Lane but rather than bring his players in for extra training, the Pools boss reckons they've earned a rest.

After four games without defeat culminating in a 4-0 trouncing of Carlisle United at Victoria Park last weekend, Cooper is more than happy to give his squad time off.

"The lads have worked ever so hard this week - plus the forecast for tomorrow isn't very clever so we wouldn't be able to train on grass," he told Pools Player.

"I think when it gets as cold as this even travelling can become a problem so I've told the lads to have a rest and spend some time with their families."
