About The New Den

It's a smart ground that cost £16million to build and was opened in 1993, replacing the rather intimidating 'Old Den'. The ground has been used to film match sequences for Sky One's football drama 'Dream Team'.

Away Facilities

Pools fans should be located in the North Stand's upper tier which holds around 4,000.

Car Parking

Street parking is available but at a premium around the ground and there are no car parks close by. If you prefer to get the train then South Bermondsey Station is only a couple of minutes from the stadium.

Distance from Victoria Park

265.9 miles (5 hours, 3 minutes)

Directions By Car

Leave Hartlepool on the A689 and join the A19 Southbound then merge on to the A1(M). At Junction 44 keep in the left-hand lanes to keep on the A1(M) and stay on the same road until Junction 14 to go on to the A14 (signposted Huntingdon, Cambridge, Stansted). At Junction 31 take right-hand lanes and continue forward to join the M11 then keep in left-hand lanes to merge on to the North Circular, A406 (signposted North Circular South, Docklands). Branch left (signposted Chelmsford, Central London) then take 5th exit at the Redbridge Roundabout on to the Easter Avenue, A12 (signposted Central London, Stratford). Follow the A12 and signs for the Docklands, branch left on to Brunswick Road and then turn right on to East India Dock Road, A13 and continue forward in to Limehouse. At the traffic signals turn left on to the A101 and go through the Rotherhithe Tunnel in to Rotherhithe and then take the 1st exit at the roundabout on to the A200 (signposted Greenwich, Lewisham).

Turn right on to Rotherhithe New Road, A2208 and then keep in left-hand lane to enter Peckham. Turn left on to Oldfield Grove, then right on to Reculver Road and enter Bermondsey. Turn right on to the Silwood Street and then left again on to Bolina Road and the stadium should be in view.

Arriving from Kings Cross By Train

Take the Tube (northern line) to London Bridge (10 mins) then change to get the overground to South Bermondsey. It's five minutes on the train and about a 10-minute walk from there to the ground (there's a bit that leads away fans straight to the away end).

The platforms that go to South Bermondsey are usually the top numbers (14,15,16). As you come off the tube they're the platforms to the right. They've got signs which are pretty clear at the station.

Single tube fares are expensive if paying cash now so people are best getting a Zone 1 and 2 Travel Card which lets them use trains, tube, bus, tram - whatever - all day.
