Nelson's Column: I Feared The Worst
Defender Michael Nelson returns with another entry in his online diary.

Enjoyable victory over Cheltenham?
"It was a good result for us on Friday, especially on the back of the previous games. The gaffer said beforehand that if we got in amongst them and gave them no time on the ball then we could get some goals and that's what happened.
The game proved a good challenge for me and Sam Collins because we were up against an experienced strike pairing of Barry Hayles and Lloyd Owusu who work well together and are a handful at this level. Thankfully we managed to keep them pretty quiet for most of the night and that helped us to get three points."
Michael Mackay quick off the mark...
"It's nice for him to get his goal and it's good for the Manager that he has players on the bench that can come on and affect games. The gaffer told us at half time in the game to get the ball in to the box on the deck because the chances were it could hit one of their players and go in if we didn't get to it first and that's exactly what happened two minutes in!"
Pleased to be playing after injury worry?
"When I first got the injury at Millwall I thought initially that I'd done my knee as badly as I did last time. I tried to carry on but had to come off at half time. It stiffened up quite a lot on the bus home and by the time I got in I wasn't very pleased with it but when I woke up on Sunday it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I went in and had some treatment on it and by Sunday afternoon I was feeling much more positive and that's the way it seemed to progress during the week so I was glad to be able to play."
League-leaders heading to town...
"They're doing very well so far but the way we have been playing at home so far we'll definitely be fancying our chances. If we can get in amongst them like we did against Cheltenham then I am sure we can get another positive result."
Martin Allen back in football...
"He's certainly a character and he's a little eccentric. I had him as Reserve Team Manager when I was at Portsmouth and he doest things you don't expect a Manager to do really! Every day was different though and I'm sure with the way they've been struggling it's been like a breath of fresh air and of course they picked up an excellent result last night."
A change of Physio?
"James Haycock the Physio was away on a course last week and missed the game with Cheltenham so Alex Seward stepped in to replace him. We've been telling him that this means he's dropped down the pecking order and he's now third in command. The lads have been saying 'if it's not broke, don't fix it' to him and after getting a good result without him on Friday we're campaigning to see if he can be replaced this weekend too!!"
