Pools were pegged back by League One strugglers Peterborough United in what was a definite game of two halves.

While Pools dominated an entertaining opening forty-five, bagging two goals and playing some impressive, flowing football, it was the visitors who bounced back in the second period, drawing the scores level.

Joel PorterNeale Cooper's men began the game where they had left off on Saturday, with some neat passing and good inter-play between the midfield and strikers.

With Thomas Butler and Matty Robson creating openings down the left and Adam Boyd displaying some of his silky skills, it was no surprise when Pools moved into the lead just after the twenty minute mark courtesy of man of the moment Joel Porter. A Matty Robson free kick into the area was flicked into the path of the Australian striker by Chris Westwood and PORTER did well to tip it over the keeper to net his sixteenth goal of the season.

Pools had chance to double their lead less than five minutes later when Robson played a corner ball along the by line to Boyd and the striker cleverly turned his marker, playing it into a crowded area.

With the ball being cleared for another corner, Robson found Ben Clark with his next ball and the midfielder flicked onto Porter but the striker saw his header edge just over the bar.

Antony Sweeney gets forward during the game against Barnsley (F. Reid)Pools made no mistake with their next major chance when a great ball forward from Boyd found Sweeney running into the area. Just as it looked as if the young midfielder was about to lose out in the battle for the ball, SWEENEY took a stab at the ball to put it past the on-rushing Mark Tyler, making it 2-0 to Pools.

With the break approaching, it seemed Pools were heading for a comfortable victory as Barry Fry's men put in a first half performance which highlighted why they are second from bottom in League One.

Fry's team talk certainly seemed to spur on his players and his introduction of two substitutes for the second period proved to be a masterstroke as the pair went on to grab the goals for The Posh.

It took sub Richard Logan just four minutes to give the visitors a life line back into the game. A ball looped through the centre of the field found LOGAN and he took it down with his right foot before unleashing a left-footed drive into Jim Provett's bottom left corner.

Jim Provett (F Reid)Spurred on by their goal, Peterborough continued to pressurise the Pools defence which had looked so solid in the opening period and it was not long before they drew level. An Andy Legg corner found Mark Arber on the right side of the box and the defender flicked the ball on for sub Calum WILLOCk to head home from close range.

The visitors had the ball in the net a third time when Andre Boucaud headed home but the linesman's flag came to the rescue for Pools.

Although Pools did continue to press forward, it was with little real conviction and there were few real chances of note. The closest they came to regaining the lead saw Steven Istead pick up a mis-placed strike from Jon Daly and play it in for Adam Boyd. However, the striker back-heeled effort was well saved by Tyler in the visiting goal.

A disappointing result for Pools against a side fighting for survival makes Saturday's trip to Colchester a little more important and Neale Cooper will be looking for another positive reaction from his players.
