Joel Porter grabbed a hat-trick to cancel out Swindon Town's 3-goal lead - given to them by Simon Cox - at The Vic this evening.
Danny Wilson's men once again fought back from being behind in a home game to finish off at 3-3 and take a point from the match.
Despite Pools being the team to control opening possession, it was Swindon Town who were first to really stamp their authority on tonight's game.
With just five minutes showing on the clock, the visitors broke well to snatch the opener; good work from Billy Paynter who fed the ball through for Simon Cox who escaped the attentions of the Pools defence to burst into the box and fire home past Lee-Barrett.
While the opening goal came against the run of play, it didn't seem to upset the flow too much for Danny Wilson's men who went straight back on the attack in search of an equaliser.
And the chances came steadily for Pools; a Ritchie Humphreys free kick from the left floated across the area to Sam Collins who chested down well into the path of Michael Nelson and the big defender tried his luck with volleyed effort - but his ball was deflected wide of target.
Joel porter burst forward before flashing a great ball across the face of goal for James Brown arriving at the far post but just as it looked as though the youngster was about to hit home, Phil Smith pulled off a great block to deny his close-range effort.
Kevin Kyle, who looked in determined mood on his Pools' debut, took a good touch to put the ball into the path of Ritchie Jones on the edge of the box and the midfielder showed great reactions to lift a delicate lob over Smith - but his shot landed just the wrong side of the bar.
While the majority of possession belonged to Pools, Swindon Town did have some chances on goal to test Lee-Barrett; a Michael Timlin freekick from the edge of the area rose over the wall and needed a last-minute fingertip save from Lee-Barrett to tip it over the bar.
Lee-Barrett was also called into action to block from Simon Cox who tried his luck with a header from close range but the Pools' stopper showed good reactions to prevent the goal.
With just over half an hour on the clock, Joel Porter showed good movement in the area to nip through a poke a ball across the face of goal but Lee Peacock found himself in the right place to kick clear.
But as the half came to a close, things really took a turn for the worse for Pools; Cox burst forward from the half-way line to pick up a ball out of defence, he turned inside Collins before powering on to hit a low drive from thirty yards which bounced in front of Lee-Barrett before heading past him into the back of the net.
Danny Wilson's side now faced the task of coming back from 2-0 down at half time in their second consecutive home game.
With six minutes of the second half having passed, Simon Cox helped himself to his hat-trick; he burst through into the area before firing him from the right side of the box giving him his 9th goal of the current campaign and leaving Pools with a real mountain to climb.
But Wilson's men gave themselves a chance of reaching their target by grabbing a goal back within a minute; Andy Monkhouse poked a ball through a crowded area for Joel Porter who slotted home from close range to make it 3-1 with 53 minutes on the clock.
There was a close call for Pools shortly after when Cox smashed an effort at goal looking for his fourth of the night but a good block by Lee-Barrett saw the danger averted.
Billy Paynter tried his luck at making it 4-1 to Swindon Town with a powerfully driven free kick but Lee-Barrett did well to block the shot and recover to collect.
There was a period of the half in which neither side really threatened the opposition keeper as the game became something of a midfield battle.
But with 81 minutes on the clock, Pools were awarded a freekick just outside the box- Joel Porter stepped up to take the kick and rifled a low drive which powered through the wall and then through the arms of keeper Smith before rolling over the line to make it 3-2.
The goal set up for something of a tense finish here at The Vic as Pools pushed forward into the dying minutes.
And then in the 90th minute Joel Porter made sure Simon Cox faced a fight for the match ball this evening when he hit the equaliser in the 89th minute.
A long Sam Collins throw from the left touchline sailed into the area before being touched on by both Antony Sweeney and James Brown before finding Joel Porter unmarked in the right side of the box. The Aussie striker showed great composure to simply lift the ball over Smith and watch in dip just in time to nestle in the back of the net to make it 3-3 and seal another dramatic comeback at The Vic.
There was excitement to the death in the game as Gary Liddle powered in a thunder strike late in the added time but his low drive scraped the far post on its way out of play.
And so Pools settled for a share of the spoils after another entertaining Friday night game at The Vic.
Next up for Danny Wilson's men is a Friday night trip to Northampton Town.
