H'Angus Finishes Second In Daffodil Derby

Posted on: Wed 04 Aug 2010

H'Angus the Monkey was last night celebrating after finishing second in the Daffodil Derby race at Southwell.

Pools monkey mascot was up against mascots from all over the country in the event, which was held to help raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The race was also organised to help launch Marie Curie Cancer Care as the Football League's Official Charity for the 2010/2011 campaign.

The charity, which provides free care to terminally ill patients in their own homes and in its hospices, was selected by the League after a vote of over 25,000 fans last term.

In total, 27 mascots took part in the race in which H'Angus was pipped at the line by Derby County's Rammie the Ram, while Leeds United's Lucas the Kop Cat came third.

It's the latest in a long line of athletic accomplishments for the energetic Pools mascot, who was runner-up in the Mascot Olympics in June and also taking part in the NHS Running Challenge during March and April.
