The Football League Trust has just completed the fist in a series of Multi Skills Training Courses for staff and coaches involved in Community Programmes.

Two courses were staged at The Zone, which is part of Huddersfield Towns Sporting Pride Community Trust.

The activities have been devised by Sports Coach UK and the Youth Sports Trust.

They aim to give coaches a better understanding of the fundamental movements and skills over a variety of sports.

Training focuses on how to develop agility, balance and co-ordination as well as the knowledge required to teach children how to develop their talents. Nearly 50 coaches have taken the course at Huddersfield.

A further 250 are expected to train at venues across the country in the next six weeks.

Sports Coach UK North West Regional manager Paul Connolly said: "This package of movement skills explained and developed in these courses are absolutely critical in helping children with agility, balance and co-ordination.

"It's great to see The Football League Trust taking on the initiative as it is a huge step forwards."

Trust Regional Manager for Yorkshire and The North East Angus Martin said "The content of the courses and the standard of the tutors have been fantastic.

The coaches who attended are now in a far better position to deliver Multi Skills both as an activity, in its own right, and also through their regular football coaching sessions. "

"By listening to the needs of the Community the Football League Trust has been able to work with Sports Coach UK to develop these really successful courses.

"As a result the Community schemes are in a far better position to deliver what local schools require in terms of quality coaching".
