Pools Community Work Hits New High

Posted on: Mon 17 May 2010

The work carried out by the Pools squad in the local community last season reached a new high, with players attending up to 250 events in and around Hartlepool.

The new figure sees a steep rise in the number of player appearances from last season and again highlights the Club's commitment to the local community.

The Club, together with Hartlepool United Community Sports Foundation (HUCSF), work hard to support local events through player appearances and are delighted to see a rise of almost 75% in the number of visits this season.

Local player Peter Hartley was awarded the HUCSF Community Player of the Year award for his enthusiasm in making community visits.

Community Development Officer Keith Nobbs admits all player support is welcomed by the Community Sports Foundation,

"Peter not only made more appearances than any other member of the squad last term, he was always keen to help out where he could and showed a great attitude.

"The involvement of the players in all of our community work is very important and we're grateful to all of the lads for their help and support throughout the last season."

The players regularly attend HUCSF soccer courses as well as supporting the work carried out in Pools Study Support Centre.

Last season also saw members of the squad visit numerous local schools, libraries, educational event and employment drives.
