Pools Under 13 side were celebrating on Sunday after being crowned champions at the Northern Masters event at the Metro Radio Arena.

The Club's youngsters took part in the warm-up competition in Newcastle at the weekend and brought home the silverware with a great performance.

A semi-final tie with Sunderland was not for the faint-hearted, as the Black Cats took the lead only for Pools' Jordan Lavery to snatch an equaliser and send the game to penalties.

Luke James, Aaron Brown and David Braithwaite all kept their cool to slot home from the sport, before James then showed his goalkeeping skills to save Sunderland's third effort.

Sean McRoberts converted his penalty and Sunderland also found the net, meaning Jack Dalton had the chance to seal the game, which he did with a fantastic spot-kick.

Pools then met Carlisle United in the Final and quickly got on the front foot against their Cumbrian opponents, creating numerous chances.

Just after half time the pressure finally told and Pools' Matthew Butt fired home to make it 1-0, following it up with another goal near the end to secure the victory in front of 500 fans.

Meanwhile, the Senior Pools team were found wanting in the main event, losing 1-0 to Darlington in their first group game and then 4-3 to Middlesbrough to exit the tournament at the first stage.
