Behan's Blog: I Feel Strong And Sharp

Posted on: Tue 13 Apr 2010

Hello and welcome to my latest blog here on the Official Website.

It's been a while since I last wrote on here but I have been concentrating really on getting back to fitness - and there's not been much else going on in my life apart from that!

I'm happy to tell you that I am looking to get back in to training on Thursday which is great news for me and I can't wait. I've been doing a lot of work with Buster (Physio, Ian Gallagher) over the last couple of days and I feel really good.

All of the physio team have been brilliant with me and I owe thanks to not just Buster but also of course to James Haycock and Alex Seward.

I've stepped up my work on the trampoline and wobble boards which build strength around the ankle I injured, and I've also been out forest running and twisting and turning which all helps obviously.

I've gone over on my ankle a couple of times during my career and it's just one of those things. I know now that it's as strong as it can be, there's no lasting damage and I've got through all the sharp stuff I've been doing in the last couple of days.

The target now is for me to get a few minutes under my belt before the end of the season and if I can get a goal or two then it will all help out obviously.

I'm not sure exactly of the plans but I know there is a Reserve game next week so depending on what Chris Turner and Colin West want to do I might get a look in there and then just take it on after that.

Certainly I'm looking forward to getting back out on the training pitch with the lads because the treatment room and the gym can get very familiar. I think I've broken a few records for using the Arm Bike in the gym and it can get like Groundhog Day in there.

At least outside it will be different so it's been good the last few days and will be even better hopefully by the end of the week.

Obviously we have a very big game for the Club tonight against Stockport County and the players are all very much focussed on getting the three points.

Having seen them in training on Monday they know they didn't play well at Wycombe and they got a kick up the backside. I know that they are well aware of what is required and they are determined to put in a good performance tonight and try and bring a feel good factor back with three points.

At this stage it doesn't really matter who we're up against whether it's Stockport, Brighton or Colchester, or whether they're relegated or they aren't - we just have to make sure we do our business right and get some points in the bag.

We know that if we win our games we won't go down and that's what we have to remain concentrated on.

Anyway, you'll be able to hear more from me tonight as I'm joining Mark for the Pools Player commentary on the game - we'll be on air from about 7.35pm.

You can send in emails to us through the game too so if you have any questions then I'll be happy to answer them - media@hartlepoolunited.co.uk

All the best until the next time,

Denis.
