There will be collection points based in the Club’s Family Zone in the Victoria Lounge and in The Corner Flag prior to kick-off in our game against The Chairboys on Saturday.
Supporters can donate the usual non-perishable food items such as cereal, soup, pasta, rice, beans, tinned meat or vegetables, tea, coffee and biscuits which will be passed on to the food bank on Church Street.
The Foodbank have also advised that they are currently short on toiletries so if you’ve got any deodorants or shower gels spare (perhaps from Christmas!) then they can also be donated.
Volunteers from North East Athletic – a sports club set up in 2012 for people in our region in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction – will help with the collections on the day from 12noon until kick-off.
“The Club was approached by the Supporters’ Trust about this idea a few weeks ago and it was something we were interested in straight away,” explained Pools’ Operations Director Mark Burrows.
“If anyone can spare anything to donate on the day then we’d really appreciate it because everything that is collected will go to a very worthy cause.
“We want to work closely with the Trust going forward and hopefully this will be the first of many joint ventures which can help fans, the Club and the community as a whole.”
Ron Harnish, Chairman of the Supporters’ Trust, added: “This is a great opportunity for the Club and the Trust to work with a worthwhile community concern.
“We are looking forward to a successful collection day for the Foodbank and hopefully the next step towards a great working relationship with the Football Club.”
