Ryan Catterick, Aaron Cunningham, Josh Hawkes, and Kenton Richardson were all at The Northern Gas and Power Stadium on Thursday evening to put pen to paper on pro deals.
The quartet have all impressed during their scholarships with the Club and have now been handed contracts as a reward for their progress.
“As an Academy we’re here to produce players for the First Team so I am delighted to see the four of them sign their professional deals,” explained Academy Manager John Hewitson.
“The new Manager has come in and seen these players for himself so and we haven’t really had to do much pushing – he can see what they’re capable of and how much potential they all have.
“They’ve now been given the opportunity to push their careers on and it shows the outside world that there is a massive pathway for young players at Hartlepool United.”
The Fantastic Four
Highly-rated goalkeeper Catterick joined Pools from hometown club Middlesbrough at the age of 13 and has developed excellent handling skills and shot-stopping, whilst his distribution with both feet is also very impressive.
The versatile teenage is comfortable playing in the centre of defence or as a holding midfielder, both of which he performs with real determination; the third year of his scholarship has been blighted by an ankle injury but his ability and potential meant he secured a professional deal.
The attacking midfielder has made such good progress in his three years with the Club that he has been a regular in the First Team squad recently and made his senior debut as a substitute against Crewe Alexandra at the end of last month.
The young right-back has burst on to the scene in recent weeks having made superb progress during his three years with the Club; the 17-year-old has already made eight senior appearances after debuting against Mansfield Town last month.
