John Hewitson’s men fell behind early on when Rovers pounced on a sloppy back pass to open the scoring with just three minutes on the clock.
However, Pools responded well and looked a threat working down both flanks, getting their reward on 13 minutes when Connor Simpson flicked a ball on for Pritchard and his cross from the right was headed home brilliantly by Liam Travers.
The goal helped Pools stay on the front foot and they made most of the running for the remainder of the first half, only to be caught out ten minutes before the break when a through ball set Rovers clear to restore their lead.
Travers spurned a great opportunity to bring Pools level again just before the break but he hesitated slightly before getting his shot away and that allowed a defender to recover just in time.
Pools began the second half in determined fashion, with Jon Weirs and Pritchard looking particularly dangerous breaking forward as Hewitson’s youngsters went in search of a leveller.
Weirs thought he had grabbed it when his shot appeared to cross the line but the officials didn’t give it, while Pritchard seemed to be fouled from behind when clean through in the area but again nothing was awarded.
However, Simpson found a route to goal with fifteen minutes remaining when Pritchard got to the byline and played a ball across for the front man who converted from close range.
Travers came close to making it 3-2 when he ran on to a good delivery from Weirs but once more the Rovers defence did well to get back before Ethan Wood lifted an effort just over the bar after running through on goal.
Simpson almost won it right at the death but the home keeper made a great save to keep out his header and ensure that the points were shared.
“It was good to bounce back with a performance like that after the defeat in the cup last week,” admitted Hewitson.
“In the end, we’re bitterly disappointed not to have won the game but the group continue to show great character and the way they’ve progressed in recent months is really pleasing to see.”
