Fun day of team bonding for Pools' Youth

John Hewitson took his Youth Team players down to Hartlepool Marina this week for a fun team-building day.

The event, hosted by the West View Project, saw the squad split into two groups to build rafts while they then all got onto to race against each other.

And, while encouraging the teams to work closely together, the day provided plenty of fun for the young players.

"It was just about the new first years and taking them out of a training environment along with the second years to get them to bond as a group," Hewitson explained.

"It was interesting from a staff point of view to see how they cooperated and communicated with each other in a different environment.

"We were watching who took the lead and were the more natural leaders, while there were others who were quieter and listened more and I think we saw that mirrored what happens on the pitch.

"And while the team bonding was important, it was also about having a break and doing something different and enjoyable.

"I think the lads all really enjoyed it and I'm sure they'll be talking about it for a while and will be hoping to do it again in the future.

"I'd like to thank the West View project for hosting the event for us, it all went really well and was a big hit with the lads".
