Neale Cooper said he was thrilled with the reaction from his team as they played their part in an entertaining 0-0 draw against Swindon Town at Victoria Park.
The Pools boss was desperate to hit back following a 5-0 reverse at Crewe last weekend and felt his players delivered in an intriguing battle with the Robins.
"I asked them for a response from last week and I thought they were really good today," he told
Pools Player.
"To play in conditions like that is hard because it was a really hot day but we played some great stuff. We perhaps rode our luck at times but I felt we earned that by defending well.
"I think they are a good side who will be up there pushing and it was hard; they had some chances and obviously the penalty but we battled for everything, threw ourselves in to block things and had a couple of good opportunities too.
"When the ball hit the post I thought it was in and so did half the stand behind me; it wasn't to be but overall I think that was a really good perrformance on the back of last week's disappointment."
