Pools' Capital One Cup tie against Crewe Alexandra at The Alexandra Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off) will be decided on the day.
The competition may have changed its name but has retained the main rules, meaning that if scores are level at ninety minutes the tie will move in to extra time and then penalties.
Neale Cooper will also be able to name seven substitutes at the weekend; rules this season mean there are seven subs again for all competitions apart from the Johnstone's Paint Trophy which remains five.
